Wet or Dry Men’s Shaving Set- Which is Which?

Shaving is an integral part of a man’s regimen but truth be told, most men dread it, it’s kinda annoying because stubble appears quicker than you can even send a text message. You’ve probably tried every available men’s shaving set out there in the hopes of making your skin stubble free and smooth at least for a couple of days. But to no avail, you always go back to what you’ve been used to.

You don’t have to get frustrated each time you face the mirror and shave. As long as you know which certain products to use, your shaving experience should be better than ever before. There are actually two shaving techniques- Wet and Dry.

WET SHAVING

Wet shaving is the traditional way of shaving and as the name implies, you keep your skin wet. Although not a lot of men use this method today because of the time it consumes, this technique is way better than dry shaving if we’re talking about skin related problems. This makes you look better. How do you do it? You apply cream, soap or oil on the area to soften the hair and then take a razor blade to remove beard. The main thing is you get the area completely wet with water before you start and you rinse your razor frequently while you shave and then you rinse thoroughly when you’re done.

So what are the different razors that may be in a wet men’s shaving set? The razors can be double edge razor, injectors, straight razors and cartridge razors. Wet shaving can be done in one or two passes depending on the thickness of your hair. Another advantage of this technique is that you can work more closely to the skin giving you that “clean shave” look.

It’s better if you can get hold of a men’s shaving set with pre-shave products. Oil is great in softening facial hair and in opening skin pores for a cleaner shave. Look for pre-shave oils that contain coconut, sunflower, olive or other oils that are drawn from plants. Don’t use mineral oil because it’s a little bit greasy. Natural oils won’t clog your pores and minimizes the growth of stubborn ingrown hair. If you’re skin is prone to breaking out, look for a men’s shaving set with antibacterial agents like tea tree oil.

DRY SHAVING

As the name would imply, you don’t need water to dry shave. You only need shaving cream and a razor. A lot of men like this method because they can do it in a hurry over the sink. The problem with this method though is that it can cause razor burn, skin infections, bumps and a less than ideal shave. This is something that shouldn’t be done on a regular basis. I only use this method only when I’ve got to.

A dry men’s shaving set should include a good razor and an after shave lotion or moisturizer, this will effectively relieve burn, dryness and razor burns. Some are even specifically formulated to heal cuts. Look for a product that contains Vitamins C and E, natural oils and aloe to heal the skin and prevent rashes.
